Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Château de Vaudieu, 'Val de Dieu' red 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017
The Val de Dieu, a small valley that gave its name to the estate, represents the core of this cuvee resulting from the blending of the three main grape varieties of the estate.
Grape variety: Grenache 64%, Syrah 28%, Mourvedre 8%
River stones and red sandstone
After waiting for optimum ripeness the grapes are harvested manually mid September to mid October.
The grapes are 100% de-stemmed, crushed and transferred to a concrete tank. The temperature is maintained at around 25°C during the alcoholic fermentation. The maceration process takes about 30 days.
Syrahs and Mourvedres are aged for 18 months in new oak barrels. Grenache is aged in old oak barrels
A dark appearance with purple reflections. A complex nose with notes of crème de cassis, grilled spices and incense. Powerful in the mouth with balanced silky tannins.
